Our field trip to the Clark Planetarium is Tuesday, 16th. Please send a cold lunch to school with your child on this day. If you signed up for the school to provide their lunch, they will pick it up in the cafeteria that morning.
Please arrange to pick up your child from the upper parking lot around 4:45 (we will dojo when we are 15 minutes out), so they can get ready for their concert and be at the HS by 6:15. Week of May 1-5

We have reached the end of unit 5, so we will not have a story, spelling list, or grammar concept next week. We will be taking our unit 5 benchmark test throughout the week, so please review the spelling patterns and grammar concepts for this unit:

Week of March 13-17
We have completed PAWS assessments for the year. Thank you parents for having students at school on time and ready to go. We really appreciate it. Since today is the end of the quarter we will be sending home report cards next Friday, March 24th, home with the students. Please check their folders for those. We will be taking our Fraction Math Outcome assessment next week as well. We will also continue with story #2 in our unit 5 reading series titled How My Family Lives In America. This story will cover fact and opinion and adjectives that compare. For spelling we will be covering homophones. Once again thank you for you help with preparing students for the PAWS assessments.

Week of February 27-March 3
Next week we start PAWS testing. We understand emergencies and sickness come up, but if possible please try to have your student in school for the next two weeks.
We are done with Unit 4, so next week we will not have a regular reading story, spelling, or grammar test.
We are excited for the Read Across America day on Friday, March 10th. Your child may wear their PJs and bring in a pillow, blanket, or stuffed animal on this day.
Our once-a-month swims may be affected by PAWS testing, so please look for a note from your child's teacher about their swim day.

We will be finishing up our quadrilateral outcome the first part of next week and taking the outcome test.

Welcome Back! As we start 2017 these are the skills our 3rd graders will be learning.
Reading: A Symphony of Whales. We will be learning how to make generalizations using key words such as most, many, all, or few.

Week of December 12-16
Reminder that on Thursday, December 22nd we will be going to the movie theatre to watch the Polar Express. This trip will be free of charge because of some generous donations. This week we will not have a weekly reading, grammar, or spelling test. Instead we complete benchmark assessment. We also wanted to remind everyone that on Thursday the lunch room will not be serving sack type lunches so if you would like your child to have something else then they will need to bring it with them. Lastly, Thursday will be an early release with a dismissal at 12:50 p.m. We hope everyone has a great weekend!
Next week's story will be Pushing Up the Sky. We will focus on the author's purpose, as well as summarizing the story.

Week of November 28-December 2:
Next week we will begin Unit 3 of our reading series. The first story in Unit 3 is titled The Gardner. We will be discussing cause and effect, action and linking verbs for grammar, and contractions in spelling. Below you will find a list of spelling words. In math we will continue with multiplication. Reminder that the Christmas Program is on Tuesday at 6:30. Please have students at the high school by 6:15 dressed in nice clothes and ready to go. Mrs. Clark has her once a month swim on Wednesday, December 7th and Mrs. Julian has her once a month swim on Thursday, December 8th. We have decided that for our Christmas party this year instead of doing a taco lunch like we have in the past we will be going to the movie theater to watch a movie. This will be free of charge so students do not need to bring any money. The date for this will be December 22nd.
